Tonight is the opening of the Showcase Stir’Up - the opening for the Calgary Stampede’s Western Art show. I’ll be teaching at Olds College all day before driving down to Calgary for the opening. I’ll be nervous about the reception my images will receive.

This image is one that will likely be entered for next years show. It’s an infrared taken at the National Historic Site west of town.

From now until towards the end of July I am likely not going to post much new work. Friends are coming to stay today and then on Sunday I’m leaving for Fibre Week at Olds College where I’m teaching for 5 days. I also have to throw in the Calgary Stampede’s Western Art Show. Monday I drive down after class to deliver my prints, and Wednesday is the opening.

When I get back we’ll be trying to buy a new vehicle; and there will be music festivals, ball games, fairs, and other various events before I leave for a 10 day photo road trip.

Today I Said Goodbye

Today I Said Goodbye, originally uploaded by Uncommon Depth.

Before Amy and I started going out shooting together I went out on my own. I quickly grew used to having company along on these photographic journey’s. I enjoyed sharing what I had learned. I enjoyed having someone to talk to, to vent to…. More than anything I enjoyed being goofy and having someone to laugh with.

Today I said goodbye to Amy. She leaves on Friday for her move to Vancouver Island. I’ll be going back to shooting on my own. It’s a move that is going to be hard to make. I will miss the company, the laughter….. I’ll miss just being able to be myself - warts and all - with someone that gets me; and who I got in return.

I’ve said way too many goodbyes in my lifetime. A kindred spirit is hard to find, and even harder to say goodbye to. I put on a brave face, but it was a difficult goodbye to say. I will miss you Amy.
